Dipped in Artichokes

I am just too intimidated to clean and cook artichokes. It may sound awful, but I buy ready-to-eat artichoke hearts from the store, and I grow my own artichokes for the look of the beautiful, silver, fern-like leaves, and bright lavender blooms.

The bloom doesn't retain this color for very long, but I just couldn't bring myself to tossing it into the compost bin. I removed the heart and simply inserted some succulent cuttings (Sempervivum and Sedum):

Not all the artichokes bloomed. In this case, I tucked the succulent cuttings (Crassula) between the artichoke leaves:
